What we see in Saddle River

Two-acre zoning, fields and forest. Saddle River lawns are big, and they show every mistake.

Saddle River requires about two acres per home, so properties here mix large open lawns, horse-country fields and woods. On lawns this size, uneven results are obvious: the sunny front stays thick, the shaded back fades, and weeds find the edges. We treat on measured square footage so every section gets what it needs.

The Saddle River itself runs through the borough, and wooded lots along it are prime deer-tick habitat. Yard Armour treats the tree line and damp edges, not just the open lawn.

Restore-Maintain-Protect, with fall aeration, premium seed and Hydra-Guard, is usually the right fit for estate-size lawns.

Local tip for Saddle River: Large lawns lose the most water to summer heat. Hydra-Guard helps the soil hold moisture and can cut supplemental watering by up to half.

Three programs. That’s it.

Pick one plan. We handle the rest, all season.

Grub prevention and lime are already in every program, so there is nothing to upsell you on later. Your price is based on your lawn’s measured square footage.

Jean-Marc, quality-control manager at Lawn Doctor of Rockland and Pascack Valley
Your lawn concierge

Meet Jean-Marc. His job is to check our work, not to sell you something.

Year one: intensive care. Every new lawn goes into Jean-Marc’s first-year oversight program. He walks it between treatments, makes sure each application did what it was supposed to, and gets the weeds and insects under control before the next season starts.

After that: he is still yours. Any customer, any year, can ask for Jean-Marc. He will also go over your account with you, so long-time customers hear about newer programs and any loyalty discounts that come with them.

  • Jean-Marc is not paid on commission. If a change makes sense for your lawn he will tell you; if it doesn’t, he will tell you that too
  • Answers your questions at your door and explains what the technician is doing and why
  • If something is not right, he fixes it before you have to call

We do not know of another lawn care company in Rockland or Bergen that gives you one.

Us vs. the big national chains

No run-around. No sales call every month.

Most people come to us after a few seasons with a national company. Same national-grade products, local owners. Here is what changes.

This is what the program looks like on a real lawn.

The same face every visit

Your technician learns your lawn, because he keeps the same route year after year.

Our routes are dedicated. When the person treating your lawn remembers where it browned out last August, problems get caught early.

Every new lawn also spends its first year under the eye of Jean-Marc, our quality-control manager. He is not on commission; his job is results.

“I have been using Lawn Doctor for a few years and I am always satisfied with the service as well as the pricing. Most recently I had 1/3 of an acre aerated, seeded and fertilized for a very fair price. The technician did a great job and was very careful not to disturb flower beds while doing a very neat job. Would definitely recommend the service.”

“I’ve been using Lawn Doctor of Rockland-Pascack Valley-Saddle River for several years, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I originally switched to them after having a disappointing experience with another lawn care company.”

“James did a great job, thank you for putting grass seeds on some of the bare spots. Timing was perfect, it rained for a couple of days after 1st application. Thank you”

Questions we get in Saddle River

Do you handle estate-size properties?

Yes. Saddle River is one of our home territories. We measure the lawn, put the price in writing, and assign a dedicated technician.

Will you keep calling me to sell more services?

No. You pick one of three programs and that is the plan for the season. If we see a problem on your lawn we tell you, but there are no monthly sales calls.

When should I seed?

Late August to mid-October. After about October 15 there are not enough warm days left for roots to set. If a lawn is in rough shape we will seed in spring too.

My lawn is mostly shade. Is it worth it?

Usually, with the right seed and honest expectations. We will tell you which areas can carry grass and which would be better off as beds or ground cover.

How does payment work?

Your price is set by your lawn’s measured size and put in writing. Our monthly payment plan splits it into equal payments, up to ten, ending in November or December, interest-free with a credit card on auto-pay. Or prepay the season for 3% off. Refer a neighbor and earn a $50 credit.

Do I need to be home?

No. Your technician leaves a note or text after each visit with what was applied and any instructions. If a gate is locked or a dog is out, he’ll call the office and we’ll reschedule at no charge.

What about dogs and kids?

Keep everyone off the lawn until the application has dried, usually an hour or two; we leave a flag and a note. Dog spots and other bare patches are what Patch Rx is for, and it can be added to any program.

Which Yard Armour program do I need?

Seasonal is four services from spring through fall and covers most homes. Year-Round adds two tick services, around November and March, for households with dogs or kids in the yard all winter. Deer ticks are active any day above about 40°F.

Can I buy tick and mosquito control without a lawn program?

Yes. Yard Armour is available on its own. First-year lawn care customers also get a complimentary lawn tick application, applied with the summer service.

When does the first visit happen?

Usually within a week of your written price being approved, weather permitting. In spring, crabgrass pre-emergent has to go down before the soil warms, so we schedule those first.

Is your program organic?

Our standard programs use custom-blended fertilizer with targeted weed and grub control, applied by licensed technicians. If you want a natural-based program, ask; we’ll tell you honestly what it can and can’t do on your lawn.

Written price. Same technician. A real person on the phone.

The only thing between the lawn you have and the lawn you want is a phone call.
